The Seattle area enjoys a national reputation for its outdoor lifestyle – and no wonder! The region is full of parks to explore, beautiful waters to sail, mountains to climb, trails to ride and so much more. Here is just a partial list of outdoor activities to get you started:

Pedal the Burke-Gilman Trail, ride the Redmond Velodrome, race the annual Seattle-To-Portland, or hit the trails on Tiger Mountain – anyway you look at it, Greater Seattle is perfect for all biking personalities. Bicycle clubs, associations, and government agencies provide helpful resources for bike riders.

From tents to yurts to RV’s – you can camp your way in Washington State Parks, National Parks, and in the National Forests located in our state.

Fishing & Hunting
Abundant water, both salt and fresh, create a year round passion for fishing in Greater Seattle. Hunting enthusiasts as well, find ample opportunities for getting out in the field.

The Puget Sound area is home to over 100 public golf courses, as well as numerous private courses and driving ranges.

The nearby Cascade and Olympic Mountains call for a weekend hike, but before you go contact hiking organizations, associations and others for trail maps and other information.

Horseback Riding
Washington Horse Park, a premier equestrian facility is located in Greater Seattle. Local area horse ranches offer riding lessons, trail rides and backcountry packing. Local organizations and clubs can be a great resource for more information.

Running reigns supreme in Greater Seattle and there is always a route to meet your training requirements. Annual race events like the Seattle Marathon, or the unique Beat-the-Bridge Run that has runners racing between to drawbridges are huge draws.

Boating is a central part of the culture in Greater Seattle and whether your craft is powered by wind, motor or muscle you will find beautiful year round cruising grounds to enjoy. You don’t have to own a boat to partake in the fun. Rentals, lessons, tours, kids camps and more can be found here.  Local maritime festivals like the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival and the Seattle Maritime Festival celebrate maritime skill and culture.
